Building on the success of her work on a footbridge for Endicott College, Ipswich sculptor and designer Shelly Bradbury was asked to add visual interest to the college’s rooftop sedum garden. Bradbury designed architectural panels in varying heights and lengths to soften the space and once again turned to Salem Metal for manufacture of the pieces. Each “tree” is welded to a base fabricated of laser-cut ¼-inch stainless steel for structural stability. The trees are either 3/16-inch or ¼-inch stainless steel that were laser cut, rolled (to mimic a tree blowing in the wind), welded, and ground by Salem Metal before being painted and installed.
